Industrial Flyover by AureliusCat Industrial Flyover by AureliusCat
Industrial Flyover
Made With Mandelbulb3d

Inspired by *HalTenny and *MarkJayBee I had to try and play with some of the formula sequences that make these amazing architectural pieces - This was created w/Decomb (inv max mode) with formulas Menger3>Transform2IFS>CylinderIFS>FoldinginfyIFS. Lots of cool possibilities ... Thanks guys, I think you may have pulled me out of the surf for awhile!!

I'm impressed by the hugeness of this structure and incredible detail. Would take a lifetime to explorer, and trying to repair it... :D

Thank goodness for math, otherwise I'd have to draw all this by hand - yikes!! :lmao: Thanks Sed! :-)

Nice outcome Mark!
Personally, I'd have added some low-key reflections, to give a little extra detail; but that's just me - always complicating things! ;)

Thanks so much Mark!! It was difficult to get a little more of an interesting texture on the some of the bigger pieces - I didn't think to try reflections, maybe that would have done the trick!! ;-)

I like to add a - fairly complex - diffuse map too, just to complicate things even more! ;)
But I find it does add extra depth and interest to the surfaces.

animate this! my first impression of this...the first sounds that came to my mind was the fly over sequence that appears later in the film...very haunting and blade runner(ish)

Thanks very much Scott - I can almost hear that too!! I think it would be really cool to animate, just a matter of me having time - I'm just learning this particular style, really interesting stuff ... :-)

are these additional formulas or compound calculations that you can add to those that already exist in the program?
or are they independent of those. i'm still figuring out how things work and how to refine the images more precisely.
right now it is more luck than knowing what works and going sideways

Yeah, they're challenging for sure - I tweaked for quite awhile before I dialed in to anything worthwhile to save. I'm just starting to get the hang of it. Thanks so much Patty!!

Thanks very much Hal!! I had actually tried playing with Mark's formula sequences a few times before and wasn't very successful. I think I got lucky this time, finally tweaked a few settings and started getting some cool details ... ;-)
